World Series Final Game Attracts Over 50 Million Viewers Across the United States, Canada and Japanese Markets.

The thrilling 11-inning clash that saw the Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run attracted a aggregate 51 million spectators across the US, Canadian, and Japanese territories. Major League Baseball stated this is the highest-rated World Series Game 7 after the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

Last Saturday’s memorable contest averaged 27.33 million audience members on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to Nielsen, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series game since the 2017 edition final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This marks a 16% improvement over the last finale featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed 4th, the fourth game ranked 7th, the fifth game was eighth, and Game 3 landed in 13th position.

Global Audience Figures

In Canada, the game drew over 11 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English-language program in the country after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final contest began at 9 p.m. local time, it averaged 12 million. This came after the previous Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six frames – averaged over 13 million viewers, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-game series recorded 15.71M audience members on Fox, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This marks the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen audience increases for two consecutive seasons.

Including the Game 1 broadcast on Univision, the complete American average reached 16.1 million. The overall World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded 8.09M watchers, an eight percent increase over the previous year and Fox’s strongest playoff ratings after the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball stated that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by 44 media partners in 16 various tongues.
